Now I know I haven’t been posting a lot of music lately, but it’s only because YouTube can be so wack sometimes! Like seriously! I’ll post videos, and then they expire or YouTube takes them down… I mean show us bloggers some love here YouTube!!!
Anyway… I’m gonna take my chances with this one!
J.Cole is one of my favorite artist and ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ featuring Missy Elliot was one of my favorite songs on his 2011 album ‘The Sideline Story” so I couldn’t miss a chance to post this!
Check it out below.
I warned you guys, any chance I get to do a post on Solange… I will!!!
“I’m inspired by my mother from the ’70s and ’80s–she looked like a walking American Apparel ad. She definitely set the bar in terms of style. I’m also inspired by Björk, Erykah Badu and Diana Ross. I gravitate to the people who have stood the test of time; that’s why so many of my style icons are older. If you can conquer that many decades and that many trends and still look timeless and beautiful—that’s where I’d like to be.”
If you’re an 80′s baby, like myself and immersed yourself in 90′s HipHop culture, I’m sure you remember Missy Elliot’s 1997 hit song ‘The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)’ and more so I know you remember the video and the HUGE shiny blow up suit she wore. If you don’t remember that… I’m sure the shiny suits worn by then Puff Daddy and Ma$e, in the video for the late Notorious BIG’s hit ‘Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems’ sparks your memory.
Ever wonder who was behind that crazy styling? Well, you’re looking at her above!
Known to most as ‘The Curator of Style’ or if your Jay-Z ‘The Secretary of Style’… June Ambrose has been behind the scenes styling your favorite stars for over 20 years, but this Monday March 19th, you’ll see her front and center in her new VH1 series ‘Styled By June‘.
Most notably known for the videos I mentioned previously, as well as being the person to get Jay-Z to wear a suit… June Ambrose has styled everyone from Kelly Ripa, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, and Mariah Carey. In between styling the stars, she also became the head stylist for the hit TV series, ‘The X Factor’
If you live in the Juni-verse or are one of Ambrose’s over 400,000 twitter followers, in between Maverick Mondays, W.O.W Wednesdays, and 4cast Fridays… you know June Ambrose has her followers overly excited and anticipating the premiere of ‘Styled By June’
This first season of ‘Styled by June‘, will plant us right in the center of the Juni-verse, teaching all of us fashionistas (and those of you who think being in Fashion isn’t a real job) the ins and outs of the fashion world, as well as the hectic life of a stylist. She will also be revamping the looks of rappers Trina and Da Brat on the show, as well as a host of other celebrities.
“Fashion is about self-expression and a statement about our times…”- June Ambrose
“June Ambrose is an artist. She enhances who you are. It’s a joy to work with someone so passionate”- Naomi Campbell
Doesn’t she look great in that Cynthia Rowley dress!?!
Be sure to check out ‘Styled by June’ March 19th at 9:30pm on VH1!
“Who, tell me who knows you better than I do
Said it out your own mouth
I ain’t even gotta say it,
You ain’t gotta make an issue,
I ain’t tryna play the victim,
I’m just tryna make this thing right
How could you think that I
Could ever be better without you
I mean, I can go a few months
But everyday girl I be missin you
Me loosin you to another dude
I thought of it as so depressing,
You know and I both know that we need this, that’s why
I’m explaining what I’m fighting for
Girl there’s no one, who deserves you more
So stop subscribing to those crazy thoughts
Cause there’s no one who deserves you more
Who gave you love
Don’t change on me
I’ll go halfcrazy if you choose to leave
That’s why I’m explaining what I’m fighting for
Girl there’s no one who deserves you more
Deserves you more”

Lagerfeld called her fat… I call this spread absolutely beautiful!
“I am quite loud and bolshie,” she says (British slang for unruly and clamorous). “I’m a big personality. I walk into a room, big and tall and loud.”
“I want to evolve as an artist. There’s so much music I don’t know about yet. I want to go on the road with my friends who are artists. I want to go and see things as a fan again. I am a fan, but I can’t remember what it feels like to be a fan anymore. Because I’ve become an artist. I’ve become the artist.”
“I really enjoy my privacy and being able to walk my son to school every morning and pick him up every afternoon.I know that I couldn’t do that if I was at the next level – privacy, as you know, it just doesn’t belong to you anymore. I definitely made a conscious effort to stay as low key as I can and still do what I want to do.”
Looove Her!!!
